How cool!

With the passing of Kindercore in 2003 it was easy to forget that it ever really mattered to anyone but Dan and I but seeing things like THIS always makes me smile! Hey, someone should think about bringing the label back or something huh?

Back again

In you all haven't made it over to Travis' blog and seen this already, check out this amazing Bill Maher rampage on patriotism from this week's Real Time. Killer...

I am still alive

Hey there readers...

Sorry I have not been updating in the past few days. I don't have much new to say now except that I will hopefully have some thing new for you soon. Thanks to Travis for holding down the fort with posts here while I was away.

9/11 Conspiracy?

While I always find conspiracy theories fascinating I have become much more sceptical in my oldish age and have grown cautious about jumping behind theories without taking time to investigate myself. Clearly information can be manipulated, fudged, sexed up, etc - however I just got done watching this documentary (keep in mind that I had never been compelled to sit through an hour and a half Google or YouTube video before this one) and while I am not prepared to say I agree with 100% of it without digging deeper, I do think it brings up some alarming information that has in large part been ignored by the majority of the media and American population. So, if you find yourself looking to burn some time online check it out and drop a comment on your thoughts.

THEE ACTION 5

Mindbending

Jared (nice new blog!!) and Hillary win the best gift giver of the week award for picking up this upsetting/amazing propaganda sign for me at K-Mart. I am going to assume that since it was for sale at the Big K the irony I am seeing was not intended. I don't know whether to jump for joy or shed a tear for the state of our country. Thanks Brown family, you rule!!!

VENOM

I don't think I had ever read a book with Venom as a character until Warren Ellis' killer current Thunderbolts run but I find myself caught up in the Spidey 3 excitement anyway so to that end check out this picture Craig sent me this morning...

Hello China!

So Devlin hipped me to this website tracking service and I am geeking out seeing that people from all over the world have been visiting my little corner of the interweb. So far this week 2 people from China (in two totally different cities) have been here and I find myself actually kind of floored to be reaching peeps so far away. And think about it, there isn't even any porn here!

So, if you are reading this and are in China (or any other country for that matter) leave a comment on this post and tell us a little about yourself. Let's geek out together all global-like.

Evan Dorkin & Steve McNiven

I finally found the power cord for my scanner!!

Here are two drawings I picked up at New York Comic-Con from two of my favorite (though stylistically completely different) artists. First is a one panel comic Evan "Milk & Cheese" Dorkin did for an upcoming issue of Mad Magazine and the second is a drawing of Captain America by Civil War artist Steve McNiven from his sketch book for issue #1. I am a nerd.

New York

So a while ago I went to NYC for New York Comic-Con and a visit with my mom. Both went swimmingly and while I planned to post one long coherent (yeah, right) account of the trip with photographic accompaniment that has not happened. So, in light of the fact that I already posted Marvel's Madman figure and have mentioned the trip a few other times I am abandoning my original plan and will just post a few things as I have the time.

I didn't take many pictures as I hate looking like a tourist in a city that I used to call home, but I am attaching a few of the more interesting ones here. Notice the UN (a marvel of MODern design) and the view from our 18th floor hotel room (heights = yikes). As soon as I can find the power cable for my scanner I will post the Captain America (I would say R.I.P. if I thought he was actually dead - Steve Rogers dies for no man) sketch I picked up from Steve McNiven and a drawing done for a future issue of Mad Magazine that I bought for a dollar from Evan Dorkin.

300 & The Last King of Scotland...

...are both totally killer. More to come on Thursday in the Action 5 (now weekly, again).

Freelance baby

So now that I am looking for work outside the realm of the man, I built a site to show off my graphic and sound design work in hopes of picking up some freelance jobs. If you are ever in need of pictures, sounds or words let me know and pass this site along if you know anyone else in need. Check it out HERE and let me know what you think.

Madman figure coming from Marvel

I know I need to post stuff from New York Comic-Con (and I will soon I promise) but I wanted to at least get this picture of the upcoming Madman figure that I took. Marvel is going to release a line of Legends scale figures (6") featuring indie comic characters. Most of the first line are weird monsters and whatnot that I don't recognize but this Madman figure is all killer, no filler. Ginchy as the man himself would say.

Also coming soon are Milk and Cheese figures - I was talking to Evan Dorkin (and buying some drawings from him) while he was finishing up the handshake deal with the Marvel toy guy - not sure when they are going to appear but I am looking forward to it!

Band to watch (tomorrow night & beyond) - King of Prussia

Dear readers I have a band for you to see...

If you dig on the Essex Green, The New Pornographers, The Kinks, The Zombies and similar sounds you need to check out King of Prussia. I was just hipped to them recently (I have been bad about keeping up with the now sounds of Athens but am on the road to being a more dilligent scenester, I promise!) and I am hooked. Check them out on MySpace (be sure to listen to the song "Campaign Kids") then go see them tomorrow (Tuesday, March 6) at the Caledonia where I believe they are opening for the Explorer's Club.

THE ACTION 5 LIVES

So it turns out that the Newsroom had no idea that the Ad department was downsizing me and there is no intention of ending the Action 5. On the contrary I was asked to go back to doing it weekly but I haven't yet made up my mind on that. As it turns out I actually had a column this week but forgot about it - I guess I must have been distracted. Anyhoo, check it - HERE.
