Hell yeah man! Likewise! I never understand why people like that movie.
Because it's funny, you goober! Jared and I took a while to see it, waiting until it was on DVD, but I don't get the people who hate it, especially those who were/are dorks. It's hard for me to think of other recent stuff that's as carefully crafted. For example, the length of that phone cord. That's not a referential joke about the 80s and it's not particularly dorky and it's not even very grandma's house, and yet it's still funny and a detail that was put in there on purpose _because_ it's funny. That shows a real grasp of the breadth of humor, as compared to something like Family Guy, which draws most of its stuff from the first category.
Well at least I now know that some people I respect actually have reasons for liking it. I just didn't think it was funny. Keep in mind I am no great fan of the Family Guy as I too find it too easy. I just hated the character Napolean Dynamite so much and found every aspect of the movie grating.
As a former and current dork I just connect with movies like Rushmore so much more. I guess at the end of the day I felt like Napolean Dynamite was trying too hard to be something it had no hope of being - funny.
But I guess we have found another thing that Team Brown and Team Lewis must agree to disagree about haha.
