Speaking of assholes...
So some asshat in the GA state house is putting forward a bill to make it so that companies (and the state) don't offer health insurance to workers but instead encourage individuals to buy their own. The assumption being that everyone will get paid more since the company won't be paying the insurance (yeah right!) and he used the old chestnut that "individuals and their doctors should make health decisions, not insurance companies and the government" (which might be true if I actually could see my doctor for more than 5 minutes at a time and if the insurance companies stopped behaving like money crazed scam artists) and that the invisible hand of the market (presumably the same hand that has been sending natural gas prices through the roof since deregulation) will surely drive the price of insurance down because consumers will be free to shop around.
He said this was a premptive move because the country seems to be moving to the left (or at least the middle) and he wants to make sure we don't become like those crazies in Taxachusettes and California and try to offer universal health care in the state. Criminy! The worst part is that it looks like it has a chance at passing.

the georgia congress is so depressing. the shadiest people in the world can get elected. that's why we're so fucking embarassingly behind in every way compared to the rest of the nation. oh, EXCEPT for mississippi. they're always a notch lower.
Yeah, or Louisiana, there biggest city barely even exists anymore. Ah, Mother Nature wiping out the competition! -sigh-
