Well, I'm not sure that's strictly true. I agree with your point that alcohol isn't necessarily an excuse, but people say things they don't mean pretty frequently, often without thinking. Thoughtlessness happens. It doesn't mean you should sue someone because you didn't think ahead, but it's not automatically unforgivable.
fucking jackasses. I love it. All their friends that saw the movie last weekend were probably like, "Dude, I saw you in that movie with the mustache guy, ya'll said things that we normally say at the frat house ALL THE TIME, but not in front of other people. Way to prove our stereotype, ass!"

I agree that people (and I include myself in that) do say things they don't mean when they are drunk but I find it hard to imagine that anyone would say the kinds of things those guys said if they didn't mean them.

It's hilarious that I end up as the voice of moderation on these things, too, not being a moderate in any major way (apart from my drinking). I just think that in order to be better than people you dislike, you have to give them more credit than they give you. At least sometimes...
