Hard Candy is the kind of film that Hitchcock would make if he were alive and working today. I cannot think of a higher compliment to pay what might be one of the greatest films to be overlooked in the past 10-15 years. It isn't always easy to watch, but great art rarely is. And keep in mind I don't use that word (art, not great) lightly or often.
